A few years ago, I attempted to implement a Medication Therapy Managment Service that would be provided throughout hospital owned Physician Care Clinics in the Oklahoma City area. I had the Medical Director’s blessing and he encouraged me to present my idea to their monthly Clinic Physician meeting. All of the Physicians were very responsive and excited about this new potential service. Once they realized that they would need to pay my Pharmacist salary because I would be employed with their clinics, they basically told me no thank you! I strongly believe that if I could get the funding to pay my salary for 1-2 years and prove the tremendous benefits that would be provided to their patients, this program would take off.
