A patient safety manager is an important individual found in many hospitals and healthcare centers. This individual is responsible for directing process improvements and correcting errors that can lead to adverse patient outcomes. The most common responsibilities of this position are described below.

1: Provide Safety Assessments

The patient safety manager is responsible for coordinating patient safety protocols and providing education to the staff about new procedures. Regular assessments of patient safety and the efficiency of the staff must be made as well. This often requires working with other departments such as Quality Care, Risk Management, Infection Control, or Care Enhancement.

2: Develop Safety Strategies

The patient safety manager is responsible for developing new safety strategies that will be instituted across the organization.
