Babies now Getting Barcoded Wrist Bands in the UK
Although the use of barcoded wrist bands has been implemented in prisons and places of employment, it will be the first time ever that a UK-based hospital has decided to use them in conjunction with barcoded labels to help identify infants quickly and easily. These will completely replace the traditional hand-written wristband system, which has been prone to errors in the past.

The system is initially being introduced at Kettering General Hospital in Northamptonshire and it will involve the simultaneous printing of a barcoded wristband in conjunction with a barcoded sticky label that will be used for the infant
